Face Mask: You Should Definitely Mask

Shinkafa Hair & Body Care-10

A face mask (also known as masque) is often ignored but its effects are immediate and dramatic.

Why and how? Face masks are the ideal treatment to help you with your skin care concerns like excess oils, acne, clogged pores and are effective in drawing out impurities from the face. At home, it is your own weekly pampering spa. Some moms report chasing the kids around with their masks on as a fun ritual and we love that image!

When you first begin using your face mask, depending on the severity of your concerns, you may start every other day and then graduate to a weekly treatment. For people with acne, for example, at Shinkafa, we recommend starting out every other day, then go to once weekly application. You should see excellent results in four applications.

Why use a face mask

There are four main reasons you want to use a face mask:

  1. Draw out impurities and thus deeply cleanse the face – some use the mask on not just their faces, but we will not go into that here.
  2. Unclog pores (2 of our potent clays are bentonite and rhassoul clays that are crucial in unclogging your pores).
  3. Stimulate good blood circulation to your face.
  4. Tighten the face and give it a flowing fresh appearance.

Face mask specifics

There are many different types of face mask. The ingredients also differ. You should find the one that works for you. Shinkafa’s Face Masque is clay based with ingreidnets that we have found highly effective on acne. Here is how you apply Shinkafa’s clay based mask:

  • Ideally use the mask in the morning just before your shower. Do not use it as a makeup remover – that is why we recommend the mornings. Applying the masque after removing your makeup may just be too much for your face.
  • Cover your face and neck (some cover necks for the tightening feel and effect – hey, whatever works!) Be sure to cover your face and neck generously. It can get messy, so, do not wear your fancy clothes as you apply the mask.
  • Tip – some dab some gel around the eye to avoid dehydration. Others want to tightening effect and do not.
  • Then, go about your business or draw a bath, if you have the time. You will need about 10 to 20 minutes for the mask to dry or cake on your face. Here is when you can chase the kids around the house and “scare” the heck out of them.
  • Time is up! Now please remove with a soft wash cloth. Be gentle. Use room temperature to lukewarm water. Do not use hot water. Some masks have cooling effects and the use of hot water to remove the mask can be unpleasant to painful. So, avoid this result to an otherwise therapeutic experience. Wet the wash cloth and hold to your face to gently loosen the caked mask, then rinse with room temperature to lukewarm water. Be gentle.
  • Follow up with your favorite moisturizer. We recommend that you follow up with Shinkafa’s blemish cream.

You will be very pleased with the result. By the way, a lot of men use face masks (shhh!) and most love the cleansing and face tightening feel. You did not hear that from us!

Go forth and mask!
